Born of the Moroccan desert.
The argan tree is a botanical relic — one of the oldest on earth, dating back some eighty million years. It thrives where almost nothing else can: on the parched, rocky slopes between the High Atlas mountains and the Atlantic coast.
In 1998, UNESCO declared the argan forest a Biosphere Reserve, recognising both its ecological rarity and the ancestral knowledge of the women who tend it. The tree lives up to 200 years and requires no irrigation, holding back the encroaching Sahara with its deep roots.
